How many thousands of hours did it take you to earn your CA designation?
Now you can add a “CPA“ to your CA by simply investing in our Comprehensive IQEX Program. Our materials include a 250-page comprehensive study binder, a textbook containing several thousand practice questions and detailed solutions, and a private two-hour telephone tutorial with Henry Zimmer. All of this will suffice as a stand-alone home-study program. However, we recognize that many participants prefer a live classroom component. Accordingly, our Program also includes a comprehensive 3-day live classroom course offered in Toronto and Vancouver taught by Mr. Zimmer.
After completing an initial review of the study binder, you only need to commit about 70 hours of study.
The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) in the U.S. offers Canadian CAs (and Irish, Mexican, New Zealand, and Australian CAs) a 4.5-hour International Qualifying Examination (IQEX) consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions, all taken from previous Uniform CPA examinations. You must apply by no later than the end of July. The exam may be taken at your convenience anytime during September at a Prometric Center anywhere you wish in Canada (most major cities) or the U.S. Upon passing, you will be eligible to join one of 45 State Boards as a CPA. We have been informed that the IQEX multiple-choice CPA reciprocity exam will no longer be offered after September 2011. Please see FAQ number 3 for further information.
It doesn't matter when you received your Canadian designation. There is no testing of Accounting or Auditing. 80% of the material covers entry-level U.S. Tax, Law and CPA Ethics. As long as you are an original Canadian CA and a member in good standing of any Provincial Institute, your application will be accepted automatically, although it may take some time before you receive your Notice to Schedule. We strongly recommend that you start your studies as soon as possible to avoid the need to cram.
Believe it or not, the topics comprise an enjoyable learning experience and, with some directed preparation, the exam is really very easy!
